After placing an order, customers are eager to know the estimated delivery date (EDD). eCommerce businesses also prefer to share EDD because it reduces WISMO queries and gives a magnificent shopping experience.

TrackingMore has developed Custom EDD feature by setting the transit times manually based on different shipping methods, carriers, and destinations.

Note that this feature is available for all users including free plan users or paid plan users.

In the Order Cutoff And Processing Times section, click Edit to set a few settings

Order cutoff time

It indicates the amount of time you need to process an order.

Note: This may impact the EDD (estimated date of delivery) calculation.

Let’s say that you have set 6:00 p.m. as your order cutoff time,

If customers place an order before 6 p.m., e.g. 3 p.m., then you can process the order on the very same day

If customers place an order after 6 p.m., e.g. 10 p.m., then you can only process the order on the next day

Order cutoff time

Order cutoff time

Processing time

It refers to the additional working days required to handle order-related work before the dispatch.

Note: This will affect the EDD (estimated delivery of delivery) calculation.

Example: If you set the order processing time to 1 day, this is how things will work later on

If a customer places an order on Tuesday and before the cutoff time, you can process it on the very same day. But the rest of the procedure will be followed on Wednesday. It means the order will be dispatched on Wednesday, instead of Tuesday.

Processing time

Processing time

Business working days (store)

It represents the days on which you prefer to process orders.

Note: US holidays will be excluded by default. This could also affect the EDD calculation.

Let’s imagine that you have set your working days from Monday to Friday, then orders placed on the weekend will only be processed on the upcoming Monday.

You can edit or delete an existing shipping zone as below: click the right icon--->click edit or delete

Shipping/Transit time

This setting lets you set the estimated shipping time for an order based on the configured shipping zone and method. The promised delivery date will be calculated based on this setting.

You get two options while setting the shipping time.

How will the custom EDD be calculated?

It will be calculated based on your settings (explained above). Let's say, you have set everything like this:

Order information is as follows:

Customer A purchased products on Shop, Time UTC+00:00

1) Order Date: At 15:00 on 2022/12/1 , which shall be entered as 2022-12-01T15:00:00Z

2) Destination: America, which shall be entered as US

3) Cutoff Time: 11:00 (GMT+00:00)

4) Processing Time: 3 additional business days

5) Business Working Days: Monday-Friday

6) Destination & Transit Time: US, 7-9 days

The general formula of computing custom EDD for the selected industry type is: Order date + Order cutoff & processing time + Transit time

Now, let's insert data according to the formula:

Custom EDD: (1st Dec. 2022) + 1 (1 cutoff since the order is placed after 11:00) + 4 processing days (3 additional business days cutting 1 cutoff day + 2 days of weekends ) + (7-9 days transit time) = 2022-12-13 ~ 2021-12-15 (13th Dec. 2022) - (15th Dec. 2022)

Here's the explanation:

UTC+00:00=GMT+00:00;

2022/12/1 is Thursday;

Order Date 15:00 is later than cutoff time 11:00, then the cutoff time will be postponed to the next business day, that is, Dec 2nd=Friday, 1 day;

Weekends not processed: 2 days=Saturday+Sunday as working days is Mon-Fri.

Average Processing Time: 4 days (Dec. 3rd~Dec. 6th) determined by processing time 3 additional business days & Mon-Fri working days;

To US: 7~9 days since transit on Dec 7th

What & Where to be displayed

What to be displayed

1) Estimate Delivery Date: Date or Date range

2) Promised by "Custom" or "Carrier" (If customized by merchants, it will show "Custom", if by carrier which supports EDD, it will show 'Carrier' )

Where to be displayed

EDD will be displayed either on Tracking Page, Shipment Detail, or Email Notification.

1、On Tracking Page

(Note: Please make sure you open "show EDD" on tracking page--->customize--->choose either "show in detailed info" or "show in progress bar", then EDD will show on the tracking page)

Only statuses "info received""in transit""out for delivery" will show EDD

2、On Shipment Detail

All shipment statuses will show EDD

3、On Email Notification

Only statuses "in transit" "out for delivery" will show EDD

Please make sure you enable EDD in "in transit" & "out for delivery" notification in the variable as below

Note: If both the carrier has EDD on its official web & users customize EDD by themselves, it will take the carrier official web's EDD for reference. And the "promised by" info showed in the shipment detail page will be "carrier", otherwise it will be "Custom".
